Award-winning animator and director Yessenia I. Calderón brings her visual storytelling expertise to the page with her picture book adaptation of the nine-time award-winning animated short film “Co-kee!”. She also was the Assistant Director and Head of Animation for Knightlights & Teddy Bears. Inspired by her Puerto Rican heritage, “Co-kee!” follows a young boy named Maximo as he discovers the iconic coquí frog, the beloved mascot of the island.

 

Beyond her creative work, Yessenia enjoys exploring her Puerto Rican roots, cooking, dancing, and co-hosting the Expresso Thoughts podcast with her brother.
